La Galigo
The Galigo is a traditional Indonesian Phinisi, 33m long by 7.85 wide, built in 2012. This beautiful 2-mast sailboat sails year-round between Komodo Park, Raja Ampat marine sanctuary and Wakatobi, the booming destination, south of Sulawesi.
The boat is equipped with a 350CV Mitsubishi engine, 2 generators provide power in 110 and 220 Volts.
Its electronic navigation equipment consists of a GPS, a sounder and a radar for night navigation. Communication is provided by SSB radio, DSC, VHF, and satellite telephone systems for emergencies. A pharmacy, oxygen therapy kit, rescue kit, 2 life rafts, adult lifejackets and fire extinguishers are available on board. A desalinator, 3 compressors, including a membrane Nitrox one, complete this equipment.
The Galigo is equipped with 7 air-conditioned cabins with toilets and private bathrooms spread over 2 decks : on the upper deck, a large Suite and 2 Master cabins, and on the lower deck, 4 beautiful Deluxe cabins.
Also on the main deck, a large lounge / dining area and on the upper deck, a sheltered chilling zone and a solarium on the roof. The boat can accommodate up to 14 divers in excellent conditions.
This boat offers short liveaboards of 6 days / 5 nights in Komodo, from Labuan Bajo, and rotations of 8 to 14 days in Raja Ampat.
The boat is ideal for small groups.
Your Dive in Raja Ampat…
Raja Ampat park is part of the Coral Triangle, heart of the coral reef biodiversity, making its sea quite possibly the richest coral reef ecosystem in the world (75% of the different species are to be found there, according to The Nature Conservancy). Figures speak for themselves: 1400 species of fish, 600 species of corals, 700 species of shellfish, 5 different species of marine turtles, 57 species of mantis shrimps.
You will make 4 dives a day, including a night dive.The dive crew counts 4 members : 1 tour leader and 3 Indonesian guides. They all speak different foreign languages and are PADI professionals. Dive ratio is max. 5:1 so everyone can enjoy a relaxing dive.
2 semi-inflatable dinghies, with 40HP engines, are used for divers’ pick-ups and spectacular sightseeing between the islands.
15L tanks are available on request
Nitrox, with membrane compressor, is available for certified divers.
Cruises On La Galigo:
The boat has 3 decks : on the upper deck, at the bow, is the wheelhouse ; just in front, a lounge area, equipped with a bank and big bean bags that make it a popular shaded chilling area. Behind the wheelhouse are the 2 Master cabins (2 Twin and 2 Double), and at the back of the boat, a Bar Lounge area, equipped with large deep armchairs.
On the main deck, there is a large air-con lounge area with TV / DVD / Karaoke, which also serves as dining room. Just behind is the kitchen and right at the back of the boat, the diving area where the equipment is stored, with a large central table, a camera corner available for divers to prepare their photo and video equipment. Right behind is the diving platform where we board on the boats for dives.
On the lower deck, at the rear, are the 4 Deluxe cabins, as well as the crew quarters at the front.
Above the main deck, you will find a solarium, from where you can stare at the marvellous islands of the archipelago, comfortably lying in Balinese loungers. It is also a great place to gaze at the stars in the evening.
The Indonesian on-board staff consists of a captain, 2 deckhand, 1 mechanic, 4 sailors, a chief and two assistants, 2 maids ; they all have a great experience of diving cruises in Indonesia.
Galigo offers liveaboards all year long : in Raja Ampat, with various itineraries between Sorong, Biak and Manokwari, from November to early May, then in Komodo National Park from June to September, from Labuan. Some liveaboards in Wakatobi (send us a request).

CABIN DETAILS :
- 1 Suite Double : located at the back of the upper deck, consisting of a large room with sofa and coffee table, facing a large flat screen TV, a bedroom with king size bed, a private balcony at the back with a 270 ° view at the sea and the islands.
- Also on the upper deck: 2 Master cabins one with a double bed and aone Twin with two beds..
- On the lower deck: 4 Deluxe cabins:2 Twin (2 beds) and 2 Double cabins at the front of the boat, with a double bed for couples.
All cabins have air conditioning and private bathrooms with hot water and storage equipment.
Children on board: ask us for conditions.
